The next best thing to a work placement to complete your gas safe training course is finding a local registered gas engineer, who will take you out and sign off your portfolio. If you have ever tried that you will know how hard it is. More importantly you are with an gas engineer who is earning a living, and will hardly stop on a job for several hours just to train you. However, if you are so lucky and can afford to take an extended period of time off work without any income, it is absolutely essential that you are able to find a company who are able and qualified to provide you with the essential field 'Training' relevant to the type of 'Gas Work' you intend to undertake. The extended period of time required is likely to reflect the fact that you will not necessarily be undertaking much gas work, and that you are relying on what you have learned during your centre training rather than the gas engineer you are out with to implement these skills.
